Well, it isn’t atmospheric of the Regency, but Harvest House Publishers made a book trailer for my upcoming December inspirational regency romance, Before the Season Ends. It emphasizes the “good girl” safety factor–this is a Christian book, for sure. It doesn’t emphasize the fun factor, or the adventure, or the sense of Regency England you get from reading it.

But hey, I didn’t have to make it myself. And some people LOVE this sort of cozy setting.

What do YOU think? Does the trailer make you think the book is too tame? Or does it whet the appetite of your inner historical romantic reading bug??

Leave a comment and let me know. I’ll pick one winner to receive a copy of the book. However, I’ll only choose a winner if there are at least ten comments left by Friday of this week. (10/31).

So, tell your friends! They could win the a new Inspirational regency that Publisher’s Weekly calls “a tasty confection.” Before the Season Ends, official release date is 12/1/08 and coming fast.

Go HERE to see the vid trailer. Then, come back to this page (use your green back arrow) to leave a comment.

Happy reading,

At this time, the Carolinas included what is present day, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennesee, Georgia, and Florida. Anyone who wanted to purchase land south of Virginia had to go through one of these eight lords and/or their representatives. Some of these lords never set foot on colonial soil. The Lords Proprietors included:

2nd Earl of Carendon (Henry Hyde)

1st Earl of Shaftesbury (Anthony Ashley-Cooper)
Many of these land grants were purchased in England before the colonists ever left their mother country. So they had no idea what they would find when they arrived in the Carolinas. I can only imagine the courage it took to cross the great Atlantic and settle in a foreign land with only wilderness around and Indian people like none they had ever known.

I keep my homepage set to what some people think is a strange site. It’s a conservative news bureau called The Cybercast News Service, or CNSNews.com. That’s how I follow politics, since I’m extremely conservative. The site leans so far to the right that it might fall off some people’s monitors, but I enjoy it a great deal because I lean that far to the right already.

Every once in awhile something useful for historical research pops up on this site. Yesterday one of the featured articles was on Yad Vashem: The Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Authority, headquartered in Jerusalem.

The site itself is a wealth of Holocaust information, including a survivors’ database and numerous articles relating to the Holocaust. They’ve recently added an entire section in Arabic as well, because of the growing sentiment among Arabs that the Jews orchestrated the entire Holocaust to get rid of the sick and infirm among them so they “wouldn’t be a burden to the new State of Israel”.

Earlier this week Yad Vashem launched a new section, an online photo archive. I haven’t looked through it yet since I’m not writing anything pertaining to the Holocaust but I’m sure this section will come in very handy for people who are writing about the Holocaust.

There’s also a newish documentary airing this month on the National Geographic Channel about the Auschwitz scrapbooks. You’d have to check your local listings to see if you have NatGeo and when it’s airing again.

His Writers is a group formed in April 2007 and dedicated to the craft of writing European based historical novels by ACFW members. Not that this group doesn’t write for other genres, but we wanted a place where the discussion of the proper use of titles of nobility, corsets in the 18th century, and what publishers were tired of prairie romances could be freely and passionately bantered about.

We have 40 members from the multi-pubbed to the those who are still in the pondering stage of their first historical novel. If you love European historicals, and are a member of ACFW, this is the place for you!
